Summer Centre Staff in Cork
CEC is recruiting an academic manager, English teachers, and Sports & Activities Coordinators for their Junior centres for summer 2018. These centres run from late June to mid-August and are situated in the Cork suburbs of Douglas and Bishopstown. Subsidised accommodation can be offered for a limited number of successful candidates.
Academic Manager Experienced Academic Manager who will manage and support the teaching team in a busy Junior English Summer School.
Responsibilities and Duties
Manage the Junior Summer School academic programme
Support and manage the teaching team
Run placement testing for newly-arrived students
Follow school’s policies and procedures on classing, class sizes, testing and certificates
Run a pre-course induction day for summer teachers
Maintain records and complete necessary paperwork
Work with the centre manager to ensure school policies for the welfare and protection of children are implemented.
Support the Centre Manager in the overall management of the centre.
Keep school directors up-to- date with all aspects of the summer school
Qualifications and Skills Previous experience essential. DELTA-level qualification desired. At least five years experience ESL teaching required.
English teacher
Responsibilities and Duties
Plan and deliver engaging and motivating lessons using the provided syllabus and resources
Understand and follow school procedures as outlined in the CEC teacher manual
Complete student reports for departing students
Complete attendance registers and lesson report for all classes
Participate in the activity and excursion programme as organised by CEC
Prioritise the health and safety of students and staff at all times
Qualifications and Skills Suitably qualified candidates must hold a primary degree and a recognised EFL qualification (CELT, CELTA, Trinity Cert or equivalent). Qualified primary and secondary school teachers must have completed a TEFL (SQT) Course. Post-qualification experience is an advantage but not essential.
Sports & Activities Coordinator Successful candidates will be motivated and possess the ability to motivate young people to participate fully in a range of activities. Candidates should be well-organised, energetic, resourceful and patient; and should be able to communicate well with non-native English speakers.
Responsibilities and Duties
Organising and supervising a range of activities and excursions for students
Enthusiastically promoting the activities programme, motivating and encouraging students
to participate fully in activities
Preparing and planning activities in advance of sessions.
Advertising and explaining the programme to students/group leaders and creating an
atmosphere conducive to language learning through a range of activities.
