Head of English at Castel Education

becoming healthcare professionals.

Who are we looking for:

Due to continued growth and student numbers we are looking to recruit a Head of English to be

responsible for overseeing the curriculum/syllabus development and its delivery on all our


Programmes [Postgraduate & Undergraduate] to ensure students receive the best possible

language tuition.

The Head of English is responsible for the day-to-day academic management of the teachers

and their approach to teaching & learning and are expected to carry out teacher training, assist in

the professional development of teaching staff and facilitate ongoing teacher observations. The

post holder will lead in the design of an engaging and challenging curriculum that inspires

students and teachers. This role requires an outstanding and confident classroom practitioner.

The Head of English will lead the teaching department; inducting, developing, motivating and

appraising staff where relevant to ensure that they have clear expectations of their roles, and that

high standards are achieved and maintained.


Key Responsibilities:

 Plan, prepare, and deliver up to 10 hours of high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment

each week.

 Model quality teaching, as a leading teaching practitioner in the subject, to colleagues to

enhance quality teaching e.g. peer observations.

 Contribute to the day-to-day academic management and development of the programmes to

ensure excellence at all stages of learning is met via a variety of processes (including the

development of pre-arrival modules and other resources, placement tests, embedding of the

Castel Learning, Teaching and Assessment Policy, performance tracking and reporting, etc.).

 Engage in programme reviews and contribute to student course handbooks.

 Contribute to and ensure key quality standards are met via a variety of processes (including

moderation meetings, responding to external examiner reports, periodic programme reviews,

borderline meetings, ACELS and EAQUALS teaching standards, Annual Monitoring visits, and

other key ONCAMPUS quality assurance activities).

 Delivery of Induction & Orientation to students/staff


The successful applicant will contribute to the teaching and learning of students

within Castel with the goal of securing success for all students to progress onto their chosen

degree course at the partner university.

Salary: €39,000.00 per year
