Seeking Director of Studies for Waterford English Language Centres

Waterford English Language Centres is the oldest recognised ELE provider in the south-east and prides itself on

creating exceptional learning experiences for every learner.


We are seeking an energetic, motivated and creative full-time Director of Studies to join our team in May 2022. The candidate should be passionate about contributing to a positive collaborative learning environment which supports the well-being and development of all school stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, develop and deliver robust curricula that meet the requirements of students and meet the key standards of accreditation bodies (ACELS /ILEP/IEM).

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment as needed.

  • Model quality teaching to colleagues to enhance learner experience.

  • Recruit, induct, embed new academic staff and deliver a programme of ongoing learning for all academic staff.

  • Contribute to the day-to-day academic management and development of new programmes.

  • Deliver pre course needs analysis, placement testing, induction & orientation to students.

  • Help manage admissions and enrolments, timetable classes and source/allocate resources.

  • Ensure policies and procedures are in line with legal and statutory requirements.

  • Help to foster and maintain a collaborative and supportive learning environment for all school stakeholders.

  • This list is not exhaustive as there may be other duties and responsibilities that form part of the role

Required;

  • A primary degree (minimum level 7).

  • A recognised TEFL teaching qualification (CELTA or equivalent).

  • At least 5 years recent and consecutive experience in ELT.

  • Evidence of ongoing learning.

  • A passion for learning and helping students on their learning journeys.

Desirable:

  • A Postgraduate Qualification ELT/DELTA.

  • Experience at co-ordinator/senior teacher and/or manager level in a recognised ELE organisation.

  • Experience with the CEFRL levels and descriptors and IELTS, Cambridge and TIE exams.

  • A second language

  • Experience in course and syllabus design.

  • Experience in a rolling admissions environment
